Continuing with book-a-day mode, I just finished Vampirella 4. I wanted to make sure this was completed before calling it a night. And, man, I'm tired.Tomorrow should be a much easier day with just tweaks to Irredeemable and possibly starting on a good chunk of BloodRayne. There's actually a few more pages to go on this, but I'm calling it a wrap since the text is laid out on the missing pages and just waiting for the final art.I dig this series, one of the few that I read as I letter. I'm back after a what seemed like a month-long absence. But, that's comics for you, you end up going a week or so without work while books are finishing up and getting ready to land on the letterer's lap. In the past, I'd be tempted to take on new projects but learned very quickly that EVERYTHING comes in all in once. So I'll just stick to 12 titles a month and enjoy a couple weeks off.Next up:

Polished off the last issue of the last Farscape mini-series today. Last month I was able to finish 12 titles, if I can keep it at that pace, I'll be a very happy guy. Looking at my schedule, it only looks like 11 books this month (counting this one), so I'll have to bug someone to give me a title. Just finished lettering the second issue of the ongoing Farscape comic book. After a quick search online for a cover, I noticed nobody had it online. A little research and I found this doesn't come out until December which explains it... the newest Previews catalog which offers titles to comic shops doesn't come out until next week (that's where this issue is solicited).So... sweet! Phew. Didn't think I could pull it off, but I did it in one night. My editors should be very pleased. Hey, maybe this deserves a raise?! heh.It sure was a busy week. Phil Hester is popping up all over the place lately. I already letter one of his other titles; Vampirella, so this was a pleasant surprise. Originally I finished the first 10 pages last month for a CBR preview so that only left 12 pages to finish off last night. Another issue down, one more to go this week and I call it a week (taking Friday off).

I've been chipping away on this book since last month, a page here, a page there. Seems I've been doing that with most of the books I work on, seems to work, and I end up being more productive.But the trick is keeping a style sheet for each series so I can keep track of the type of fonts, balloons, captions, and sfx I use. Next up is the final pages for Anchor and then I'm just waiting on pages

Got a new series with Wildstorm and it's based on a video game property which I was actually pursuing a couple years back. It never got into the big time stage, just a passing interest, but still. Irredeemable 7 is finished. Sweet ending to this issue! Next up on my slate is God of War #1 - which should be finished tonight. Immediately following that is the fifth issue of GeNext with Luke McBain #1 and Anchor #1 finishing up the beginning of my week.Non-comic/work related -- my Verizon contract ends today so now I'm able to switch to AT&T and go iPhone! Here's a title I've been chipping away at. Actually, with most Boom titles, I try to stay caught up as the pages are uploaded. It's less hassle to have to bang through a whole issue in a day. Farscape gets it's own regular monthly series starting in November. I just finished lettering this issue. It was a trip working on this since it's slated to come out after the current mini-series: "Gone and Back" (which I have half finished). This was a great issue to letter! It had all the cool X-Men characters I grew up reading, plus some other cool things like Nick Fury, and most of all -- and I just found this out since I didn't get to do a credits box -- it's illustrated by Steve Scott. I worked with Steve on one of the BloodRayne books I published a couple years back. Man, small world.

Got home tonight (Wednesday) and there was a voicemail telling me the art for this issue was now on the server. The voicemail also mentions the issue had to be lettered by tomorrow. Nice. One day turn-a-round. I haven't done one of those in ages. So 3 hours later, I'm uploading a mock-up of the whole issue... lettered.I'm taking the next day off. Gonna go to the zoo or something.
